The Access to Chiang Rai airport is available from an road linking the airport with the Superhighway, which leads southbound to the city centre, Chiang Mai, Bus Terminal II and also to the way to Bangkok and north to Mae Chan, and the Thai-Myanmar border.

For Chiang Rai, a small town in North Thailand it is a very busy Airport with five airlines competing, the direct domestic route to Bangkok. At the Chiang Rai Airport are budget airlines; Nok Air, Thai Smile, Thai Air Asia and Thai Lion Air and Bangkok Airways.

They also offer connecting flights to Singapore and Hong Kong, and a daily China Eastern Airways flight to Kunming.All Flights run from around 09:00 until 21:30.

Outside the  arrivals area offers both metre taxis and airport taxis though the former may be harder to find. A metre taxi to downtown cost you around 100 baht while an airport taxi charge a flat 200 baht to any city destination.If you go Into the opposite direction you may be able to negotiate with a taxi or tuk-tuk.
