Surat Thani

From  Surat Thani and its airport it can take up to two hours or so to get there, and we recommend arriving early so you can get a good start in the National Park and arrive in time for lunch.

Surat Thani is where the ferries arrive and depart for the for those coming from the Islands in the Gulf of Thailand, such as Samui, Koh Phangan, and Koh Tao.

Koh Samui is not too far from Khoa Sok national park, even though it is an island it is in the same province -Surat Thani.

Once you know how to get to Khao Sok National Park what to do in Khao Sok National Park

What to do is the big question and one that is very easily answered

Khao Sok National Park in Southern Thailand is home to the oldest evergreen rainforest in the world.

The rainforest has remained relatively unchanged for thousands of years, which mainly due to its location and being so close to the equator it was hardly affected by the ice ages.

There is so much to do and see in Khao Sok and if you are a nature lover this will be one of the highlights of your holiday to Thailand.

There are immense limestone mountains steeply rising into the air, glorious lakes, long and deep valleys, mysterious caves to explore and the wildlife will simply take your breath away.

What to do in Khao Sok National Park

With so much to see and do in Khao Sok its difficult where to start answering that question

One of the most popular activities in Khao (Sometimes spelt Khoa Sok )is trekking through the jungle. There are many things to see here, which can easily be missed without a trained eye, -there are wild animals here too- so we recommend hiring a guide.

Some of the animals you can see are Malayan Sun Bears, Wild Elephants, Serow (wild boar), Tigers (if you’re lucky) an uncountable an astounding array of bird life and the flora is captivating.

Rafting or Kayaking is another popular activity on the river. You can meander downstream, taking in the amazing sites of the mountain scenery.

The limestone walls as they jut out the forest are simply mesmerizing. Cruising down the river is so relaxing and is another great way to catch the wildlife in action.

There are many caves to explore and again we strongly recommend taking a guide with you. Most of the caves connect to the Cheow Lake, on here you can take a cruise even spend the night or two on the lake in one of the famous bungalows
